I grew up in Anchorage and Homer, Alaska, playing in various orchestras and string camps. I play with the Super Saturated Sugar Strings; a constantly evolving musical project in Anchorage, Alaska, that blends chamber music with folk rock.

I taught privately for many years through Alaska School of Music- a nurturing, supportive institution for cultivating music education. I currently teach violin and beginner guitar at my home studio in midtown Anchorage. I love putting on student recitals, getting students to play together in our Spenard yard jams and enjoy teaching a variety of styles. I am a certified Suzuki Method teacher and have taught fiddle and guitar for several years at the following folk camps around the state:

The Super Saturated Sugar Strings -Notable Quotes

Throughout All Their Many Miles, the Super Saturated Sugar Strings traverse a wide range of musical territory. Almost a third of the album falls into a progressive pop-vocal category led by Moore’s shining, yet smoky vocals (“Precipice,” Amplified,” “Long Road”). Another third, which features Watt’s gruff, almost Tom Waitsian singing, harkens to traditional folk songs. The rest of the LP includes a range of instrumentals that could fit as well in feature-length film scores (the tension-ridden “Crocodile”), Broadway musicals (the uplifting “Float”), or high-paying television commercials (like the bouncy end to Watt’s vocal song, “Love Cocoon”).

“If they must be categorized, let them be called orchestral alternative rock, or foot-stomping symphonics. They’re to be savored and ingested through all the senses like one does with groups like Beirut, Andrew Bird, Pink Martini or Devotchka.”
